Project Portal
September - December 2019
Project Portal was our team’s entry for JIC’s KaPoDaV contest. Over the course of three months, we collaborated in FabLab’s workshop to create a robot inspired by Valve’s Portal series. This project required the use of tools such as a laser engraver and a 3D printer to create components essential for the robot’s construction. Additionally, programming on Arduino was crucial for animating and controlling the robot’s movements.
We faced significant challenges, particularly in managing our time and coordinating among all team members. Balancing our schedules to ensure steady progress required a lot of planning and communication. Additionally, adhering to a strict budget required careful resource management and significant cost-cutting measures.
I was primarily responsible for 3D modeling and the final presentation of our project. However, every team member, including myself, contributed to various aspects of the project. Project Portal was an incredible learning experience that allowed us to push the boundaries of our technical skills and creativity.
In the end, we won the contest and were awarded prizes for the best project voted by the JIC’s committee and also the best project voted by the attendees.
